Critique and Analysis of the Art Produced After the Artists’s Recovery
By Rogier Chardet
Visit The Journey Home Collection – This new section of the gallery features work produced by the artist after a five week coma and a year’s sabbatical from her art.
The artist has stated that the five week coma has left her experience of life altered. She specifically refers to space and time: “I feel like a rudderless boat adrift on the endless ocean of eternity”.
The fluid concept of space has always permeated her work. Although the fluid shapes remain, there is a softening of form and a more gentle treatment of color.
The integration of detail with larger, more sweeping plains of color suggests the evolution of the style of the old impressionists. An ambient surrealism flows like an under-current through her art, allowing the viewer to experience the world through the eyes of the leading mystic of our time.
